Replacing music in a powerpoint presentation

Is there any easy way to replace the background music in a
powerpoint presentation? I want to replace the music from
a wma file with music from an mp3 file. Thanks.

You'll need to explain how the background music was addind (via insert >
sounds OR as a transition sound)

Thanks for the reply. It was a friend's presentation, and I'm sure
that he inserted the wma file.
In fact, it is just one wma file that plays continuously for the
entire 3 minute presentation.

Thinking about it you cannot use a wma as a transition sound - Doh!

The speaker icon should be visible on the first slide. It may be off slide
and therefore you may need to use a 10% zoom to see it.

Once found simply delete and reinsert the new sound. If you don't know how
to make it play for the whole presentation there are tips and tutorials here.
You may also want to look at embedding the mp3.

You need to know, only WAV file under 100kb can be embedded in PowerPoint.

Nope - wavs upto 50000kb can be embedded. However you do need to change the
default (which is indeed 100kb) before inserting the sound file: tools ->
options -> general -> change 'link sounds with greater file size than' to
50,000. In 2007 you can find this option under office button -> powerpoint
options -> advanced -> save.
