Replacing pictures in Word templates

Perhaps there is an easy answer to this... I am trying to use a Word template
for a newsletter, and I cannot get my own photos or clip art to replace the
existing photos in the template. When I paste a photo, it shows up in the
upper left hand corner of the page and refuses to move into the boxes where
photos are sitting elsewhere on the page. I KNOW there must be a way!! Help!

What version of Word are you using?
