Replacing Styles globally

A

Annamarie

Hi

I'm working on a doc. Made a template. Boss made a different template.
Expects me to use it. Is there a way to globally change all text in say,
ads_header1 style to ddsheader1 style?

Yes, I can reapply the style to each item and even go through and select all
the need to be changed, but I was thinking that the computer ought to be
able to do this.

Thoughts?

You can replace styles using Find and Replace. Click the More button to
display the entire dialog, then choose Format: Style to choose the
appropriate style for both "Find what" and "Replace with" (leave both boxes
empty).

First, import the styles so that you have all of them in your document. Then
use Replace. Click on the More button and with your cursor (but no text) in
the Find window go to Format => Styles (on the Replace Dialog box, not the
main menus) and pick ads_header1 style. Do the same with ddsheader1 style in
the Replace window. Then click on Replace All. If you have a lot of
documents you need to do this with, record a macro to do it.

Thanks. I didn't realize that would work, though I thought of it. Worked
like a charm.
