Reply is grayed out.

Suddenly and magically, when I open new e-mails, I seem to have lost the
ability to reply. A gray "ball" appears next to the sender's name and reply,
reply to all, and forward options in the tool bar and drop down menus are
grayed out. How do I fix this? Please respond to (e-mail address removed) or
(e-mail address removed)
