Reply to HTLM messages takes a long time

My Outlook 2003 is configured to send and reply only in plain text. Word is
my email editor.

When I click "Reply" to a message in HTML, it takes a very long time for
the reply window to come up. It does, eventually, and is in HTML (although
I assume my reply will be sent in plain text).

Why does it take so darned long to load the reply and what setting can I
change to eliminate that wait?

Incidentally, I notice, when I copy and past text from a web page into
Word, it takes a long time for the paste to occur. If I Paste Special. . .
and select "unformatted text", then the paste is immediate.

Thanks for any ideas as to how to resolve this problem.

Forcing a reply in Plain Text is not possible; i will always reply in the
format of the original message.

How long does pasting take when you select Outlook as the e-mail editor? Any
add-ins you are running in Word?

I had this exact same problem in Outlook 2003. Is one of the reasons I got
rid of it and went back to Outlook 2000. Maybe it is just legacy issues
don't know.

This occurs with a clean install of Office 2003 Professional, with no add-
ins at all.

If I go to paste from text copied in the web browser, it will take a full
minute or more to complete the paste into Word or Outlook. When I set Word
to not be my email editor, the same delay occurs for the paste into Word
but, of course, there's no delay at all into Outlook's native email editor.
