I frequently rather than use individual field names, i.e., LNAM and FNAM,
like to create a text box and enter "=[LNAM] & ", " & [FNAM]". However, when
I go to that field on the Property Sheet for that new text box, and Right
Click, or Left Click to get the BUILD dropdown, I get thrown out of ACCESS.
(with the attendant message to send to MS - which I usually don't do as I
have NEVER gotten an answer from MS about ANY problem.) I know I can type
the expression onto the line, but sometimes the expression is more complex,
taking up a lot more room or it uses field names which need to be typed in
from scratch. I did this all the time in ACCESS 2003, and sometimes - maybe
once out of 20 times it will work for me on 2007, but I've gotten thrown out
of ACCESS so many times I'm beginning to feel it's something personal! Of
course trying to get help from MS is unbelievably expensive - I don't want to
pay $ 100's for a piddling little question.
