Report customization

Jinesh Dalal

Hi,

we are facing one issue w/ the customization of report in project server.
We have a project having additional field (Enterprise Duration 2 - being used
to capture Original Estimation). Now we want to track resource activities
against the total work and export the report in EXCEL format.

We are generating report of Timesheet View using PWA --> Resources --> View
Resource Assignments --> (User Selection) --> Show All Assignments using
Timesheet format.

I've customized the report by adding 2 addtitional fields - Ent. Duration 2
as well as Baseline work.

But the generated report is showing both these fields as empty [the same
fields disply data in another reports generated from project view in PWA]

The report is showing all other required details except the additional
fields. Is there any specific issue why the report is showing these fields
blank? How to generate composite view report using PWA?

thanking you in anticipation

Hi Jinesh,

Did you published those fields ? Menu Tools / Customize / Published
fields. You must then publish each project using Collaborate -
Publish - Republish Assignments

Hi Huges, thanx for the update. But it didn't work.
I tried to follow your instructions and published the customized field (i
even tried to define it as a assignement as well as task). I also added the
field in the enterprise resource global. I saved everything, opened my
project and republised all the assignments as well as project plan.

But still it is not showing any values in PWA. Please help.

Hi,

Did you publish the field "Duration 2" or "enterprise duration 2" ?
Also, if you make any modifications to the projects, can you tell me if
those modifications reflect in the PWA ?

You need to add the two fields to EVERY enterprise project using Tools -
Customize - Published Fields. You CANNOT add these two fields to the
Enterprise Global file, as that will not effect any of your enterprise
projects. After adding the two fields to every enterprise project, your
PM's must also republish the assignments in each project using Collaborate -
Publish - Republish Assignments. The information will then show up on each
user's timesheet in PWA and in the View Resource Assignments page as well,
provided that you added the two custom fields to both the Timesheet view and
to the Summary view in the Assignments section. Hope this helps.

Hi Dale & Hugues,

Thanks a lot for your wonderful help. It works perfactly.

Actually I was making mistak as i published these fields in Ent. Global
instead of pubshiling the same at project level. Once I publised them at
project level and I republised the assignments, it got me success.

Once again thanks to both of you for assisting me and community as well.

I'm glad Dale got your problem straightened out, but I'm scratching my head
why you're not using Project Server's baseline feature to preserve your
original estimates. It opens the door to so much more useful out of the box
functionality.

Hi Gary,

Yes, you are right. But the project we are working on is quite dynamic in
nature and large in size, so freezing the baseline is not solving the
problem. Thats why we have to opt for an indirect route.

After some great help from Dale, I was able to generate the desired report
successfully but today I noticed one bug into it --> the resource assignment
report generated from PWA shows rejected task hours also in the actual work
field. How to stop displaying rejected task work in the report? Kindly help.
