Report Does Not Like Parmeter Query

Don't mean to make it sound like a love relationship, but
I am trying to create a report with the Wizard. If I
choose a table or a query, it show available fields. But
if I choose a parameter query with parameters listed in
the criteria and in the Parameters under the Query menu,
it does not give me any available fields. The query works
fine though!

Any chance the parameter query uses the parameters for selection only, and
does not display the fields?

The query displays the correct fields. If I take out the
query parameters from the query, the fields are then
shown in the Report Wizard. What is going on?!

If you use the same query (with parameters) to create a new report, does it
work? I've had reports get subtly corrupted -- and I've ended up throwing
the bad one away after creating a new one that does work.

Does that mean that Microsoft doesn't know what it is
doing with simple processes?! I doubt that!
