*Report Due!* - Template Auto-Deleting Itself??

S

I am using Word 2007and have downloaded the Report (Equity Theme) template
from Office Online. It works fine - except there are certain fields that
delete themselves whenever I hit save! For instance, on the first page of
the template, there are fields for date, name, subtitle, company, etc. I
will literally fill them in, go up to click save, and watch as Word deletes
what I've just entered. Obviously this is a problem, as I need to be able to
save my report! I have tried using "save as" hoping it would reset the
template or something, but nothing seems to be working. As I am brand new to
2007, I don't know how to create my own fields to override those in they
system. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Since the fields that are being deleted are bound to data stored in the File
Properties are you sure you are just clicking Save and not running Inspect
Document and removing the File Properties?

Oh wait - I see what is happening now. If you download the template, as
opposed to using the same template that is available from the "Installed
Templates" category, they have the option set to "Remove personal
information from file properties on save". (Considering the template is
supposed to demonstrate bound content controls this wasn't a smart move!
Plus it can only be set in previous versions of Word and it isn't the only
document available that has this option set. <sigh>)

To correct, in Word Options (found by clicking the Microsoft Office Button),
click Trust Center, click the Trust Center button, then click Privacy
Options. Clear the "Remove Personal Data" option, reenter it and it
shouldn't disappear the next time you save. Also note the same template
found under your Installed Templates does not have this option set.

You're welcome. :)

I reported this for the template in question and a few other Report
templates. Hopefully they will be corrected. In the interim you can use the
Report templates found under the Installed Templates and not encounter the
issue.
