Report Gets #Name? on database launch

I have a weird situation that I can't figure out. I have built a report that
has many text box
controls that do calculations based on the detail fields coming from a query.
The weird thing
is that when I launch the database, many of these controls get the #Name?
error on the report.
If I make any change to the report, in design view, and run the report again,
the errors go away
and it will work for the remainder of the session. When I exit and relaunch
the database, the
errors are there again. It's as if it's losing it's ability to link to the
other controls, until I make a
change. Can anybody shed some light on this one? It's the first time I've
encountered this.

Hi,

How many is "many"? Make sure you count of all of the controls
including such things as labels and lines. One hundred? Five hundred? A
thousand? Have you tried a compact and repair? Make a backup first just in
case of some kind of problem. If that does not help, try copying the report
itself and deleting a half of the controls from the copy of the report. Then
test it. Does that solve the issue?

The controls were all fine and working, once I made a change to the report.

I actually stumbled across the cause of the problem, I had originally written
some code, so there was module for the report. I later deleted all of the
code, but the report properties was still set as "Module=Yes". I changed
this property to "No" and it fixed the problem. I put this here just in case
you ever hear about something like this again. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

You are welcome. It is an odd reason for the problem--I never would
have guessed from afar. Thanks for posting it--very useful to know.
