Report gives "Timeout Expired" all of a sudden

A report that has been running fine for weeks has suddenly started
generating "Timeout Expired" after 30 seconds. The SQL takes about 2 seconds
to run, and works fine both in query analizer as well as simply flicking to
"view" it in the SQL design panal.

The connection timeout is set to 300 (and unrelated anyway), the report
doesn't do any other queries or code, and there are no blocking SPIDs.

Any ideas?

Well I "solved" it, but the solution gives me no confidence.

There are two versions of the report, they vary in that one says "include
everything with this..." and the other that says "include everything BUT
this...". I copied the SQL out of the working report and into the one that
was timing out, changed the WHERE, and presto.

I have no idea why this would happen. Frankly I'm a little scared that it's
just going to happen again.
