i have a report containing a list of employees. the positions are division
managers, sales director, sales manager and sales asociates (arranged from
highest rank to lowest rank). I want to group them by division manager with
their respective subordinates. one division manager in per page. when i tried
to do it on my own, many division managers with their subordinates are
included in one page.

how can i solve this?

Set division manager group to "do not keep together on one page" or "new
page". What version Access are you in? I have already forgotten a lot about
where to find things in 2003 since moving up to 2007.

You can force a new page after the group footer.
Right click the header bar in design view to get the properties sheet.
Select the Format tab.
The next to the last option is Force New Page.
Select After Section
