Report Loses Specific Printer

What would make a report lose it's connection to a specific printer and go
back to the default printer? Our reports for labels are suppose to use the
label printer but they keep defaulting to our laser printer. Is this a
network problem or an Access problem? I have already installed SP3 update on
both computers involved and it still does it on the computer that uses the
network to access the database. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Donna

Donna:

When a report is saved to use a specific printer, it stores the name and
output port and a few other pieces of information about that printer within
the report itself.

Where you problem can come into play, and this is especially true if you
have a network comprised of different operating system which mix Win 9.x and
Win NT / 2000 / Xp systems if the printer has a different name on any of the
target machines or its port is stored differently on any of the machines
(which is where the 9.x vs. 2000/Xp issue comes into play 99% of the time).
When that occurs, Access can't "find" the specific printer since the name /
port is slightly different and it will revert to the default printer.

Secondly, if any user previews the report and switches printers for any
reason during preview and then closes the report this will often result in a
save of the report to the selected printer. However, my guess is that it is
more likely something related to the first issue. So look at how the
printer is named on each users machine.

Steve,
Thanks, that was exactly the problem. One of the printer names had an extra
space.
