Report of Task Conflicts Needed!!!

I would like to be able to create a Master Project file that would have up to
10 inserted projects that are inter-related. As work progresses on the
projects (and potentially dates slip for the various tasks), I would like to
be able to open the Master Project file and view a report that shows schedule
conflicts for the project tasks. For example, let's say the final milestone
tasks is a software driver that is scheduled to be completed on 5/11 however
slips until 6/15. However, this driver is needed for another project that
is scheduled to begin on 5/18.

Is there a report where I can quickly view these type of schedule conflicts?
If not, how can I program such a report. This is something that is of
GREAT interest at my company!

Thank you so much for your help!

sdc,
Instead of a "report" of task conflicts, why not do some critical path
analysis? The critical path indicates which tasks are currently driving
the finish date - or intermediate milestones if set up that way. As long
as your subprojects are inter-linked (i.e. external predecessors), the
critical path shown in the master will tell you what you want to know.

Take a look at the Tracking Gantt view. It has a lot of useful
information, including the critical path. Just make sure that the
option, to calculate multiple critical paths under
Tools/Options/Calculation tab is not checked (by default it is not).

Hope this helps.

First, you can created links between the project files from within the
Master.mpp. This way if "Software Driver" in Subproject2 slips, it will
automatically drive "Other Imporant Project8" due to the predecessor
relationship between the tasks.

Set a baseline for each of your projects. In the Master.mpp file, switch to
the Tacking Gantt View which gives you a graphical representation of the
current plan and the baseline. You can visually inspect for slipping tasks.

Additionally, if you have a baseline set, you can apply the filter "Slipping
Tasks" which will give you those tasks where [Finish]>[Baseline Finish].

Another good filter is Slipped/Late Progress --- if you are using your
schedule to collect Earned Value, this filter lets you know if your earned
value is falling behind schedule.
