Report Query Subreport Queries

I have a report with several subreports. I have date criteria(user entered)
in a query for one of the subreports that refers to the date criteria of the
main report so the user does not have to enter the criteria twice..this works
well[reports]![mainreport].[fieldname]. Now I want to refer to date criteria
in a query in a subreport from another subreport query, both within the same
main report, and cannot get it to work. Any ideas?

Use a form where you enter the criteria.
The main report's query reads the values from the form.
The subreports' queries can also read the values from the form.
