Report requesting parameter values for removed fields

I liked the format of a report so imported it and the query to another
database. I changed the names of the fields and controls on the query and
report and ran it.
It is asking for 2 parameter values that I removed from the report.
The two values are not in the query or on the properties of the query. They
are not on the report, not in sorting and grouping, not in any summary.
There are no event procedures.
Apart from that the report runs as it should.
Where else can I look to find why it is requesting these two parameter
values? Access 2007 on WinXP.

Hi Mich,

If you run the query directly outside of the report, does it prompt for
the parameters? If so, check to see if the parameters are defined at the top
of the query while viewing in SQL View mode. If there is a PARAMETERS line,
delete the entire line. You can also view/edit/delete the parameter
definitions by clicking on the Parameters item in the Show/Hide section of
the Query Tools/Design ribbon. If not, then the "parameters" really are
somewhere in the report; maybe as a filter.

Check the Report's Order By property - fields will sometimes hide there. You
might also have controls on the report that reference the deleted fields.

Neither of these is the case.

I have actually recreated the report from scratch, copied over all the
fields into the sections of the report and don't get the parameter question
anymore, so am now pursuing this from a hypothetical standpoint in case it
ever happens again. I still have the report in case anyone comes up with an
answer.

Hi Mich,

I have to agree with John that there must be somewhere in some property
or something a reference to those former fields/parameters. That you were
able to copy the controls from the report into a new report would indicate
the problem is not in those controls. Which leaves some part of the report
itself. What happens if you delete all of the controls (or maybe all but
one) from the report? Which makes me wonder if there are any controls that
are not visible to you? Say a text box with a height and width of 0. You
could try a a Ctrl-A while in design view--see if anything shows up as
selected that is not immediately evident as being on the form. There also
could be something hiding behind another control.

I removed every single item off the form - all controls, lines, etc. I left
only the control source query. That left sorting and grouping and still
getting the parameter message.
When I removed the botton sort group which was 'Sort by EmployeeName with A
on top' using the X for delete on that line (Access 2007) the last line
changed to Sort by Expression ascending. The expression was Activity - one
of the parameters I was asked for. It took some deletes and undo's before I
realized that I wasn't deleting the last sort group - the graphic did not
indicate well that I had two more sorts below the edge of the screen, which
didn't have headers or footers so didn't show up on the report as sections.
The first three sorts have a curved line going down and right to the next
sort. The line on the 4th sort group went straight down and I
misinterpreted that to mean there were no other sort groups. What I would
rather see there is at least the top of the words so that I would see that I
needed to scroll down to see more. The height of the sorting and grouping
area seems to be fixed so you can't expand to see all six.
I'm chalking this down to another Access 2007 learning experience - thanks
for all suggestions.

Hi Mich,

Interesting to hear. Thanks for the report. I would have to say that
I myself am not a big fan of the new sorting/grouping display. It does not
give you a nice overall view at all and requires a fair amount of clicking
and scrolling.
