Report with Indented Subtasks

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I'm new to Project and
having some trouble generating a report I'd like to use.

1) I'd like to be able to generate a report that shows my subtasks
indented. Right now all tasks (sub or summary) are aligned flush left.

2) I'd like to keep the subtasks locked to the parent summary task when
I choose to sort my reports. For example, I have entries that look like
this:

CLIENT TASK

COMPANYX Make New Org Chart
- Talk to Jim
- Talk to Sue

If I generate a report and choose to sort by CLIENT, my subtasks don't
stay arranged under their parent summary task. Do I have to link or
something? Many thanks in advance.

Hi JRyan,

I assume you have indented your subtasks (Talk to Jim and Talk to Sue) under
the Summary task (Make New Org Chart.)

For number 1: Go to Tools>Options, view tab. Enable "Indent Name" under
the Outline Options at the bottom of the tab.

For number 2: When you choose Project> Sort> Sort by, make sure "Keep
outline structure" is checked.

These both will change the views you are using. If you could tell us which
report you are trying to use, that may help give us more guidance and we can
offer additional help.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Many thanks for the help, Julie. Must have unchecked the "Keep Outline
Structure" by accident. Working great now.
