report with no data but subreport has data

I have a report with a subreport. If I run a the report with certain
parameters, the main report can potentially have no data asscociated but the
sub report may. Of course, the subreport doesn't get the chance to run sine
the main report comes up blank. I pass the parameters to the main report with
a macro. Is there a way to tell the report to run anyway so the subreport can
open?
