Reporting bugs

Elliott Roper

I hit the "Send Feedback on Word" button on help in Word 2004
I was confronted with a web page for the intellectually handicapped.
http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/
I'm trying to *help* these muppets fix this pile of bloat and under
"Report a Microsoft Product Bug"
all I get is:-
If you think you have found a bug in a Microsoft product, contact our
Microsoft Product Support Services department.
(800) MICROSOFT (642-7676)"
Like they give me a US centric telephone number and expect me to hang
on a phone tree.
Sheesh!!
If I *think* I have found a bug? How ***ing patronising can you get???

If anybody from MS is reading this, the bug report is on usenet
<221020052048484730%[email protected]>
The title of the article is
unable to insert symbol with latest version of Office

and *do* have somebody put a better link in the feedback line of help.

I'm not just annoyed. I'm hopping fucking mad.

Sorry, Elliott.
I read your post above before I saw your very useful reply to my
original post. Thanks for the help! Branton

I have simmered down a bit. Paul B too says to use the character
palette. Take a bit of time to learn the character palette's
idiosyncracies. The 'favourites' panel looks pretty useful for
frequently used glyphs.
Watch out for documents created in Word X that contain strange symbols.
The symbols might go funny on you in Word 2004 from what I saw while
testing that bug report.
