Reporting database not matching published

Hi

I have a problem with the Project Server 2007 reporting database. Sometimes
when projects are published some resource assignments aren't showing in the
reporting database. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this
problem but occasionally when I look at the resource centre data is missing.
Republishing the project doesn't make any difference but if I substitute the
resource who is not showing assignments correctly for another resource,
republish then put the original resource back and republish the data shows
correctly.
The issue I have is that unless I check the resource centre against plans
that I have recently published I don't know if the reporting database
contains problems or not.
Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance

Andy

Hi Andy,

have you checked the Project Server Queue and the event logs. Generally if
the publish database and the reporting database are not in sync, I would
always check the queue for errors.

Let mek know if there are any error.
Thanks

Hi Marc

Thanks for getting back to me. I have checked the queue and there no errors
relating to the publising of projects showing these resource assignment
reporting problems. There were no related errors in the event log either.

What patch level are you at with MOPS and Project Professional?
Make sure they are at the same level and that each user using MPP has done
their update on the client as well.
Normally like Marc stated it is a job getting stuck in the queue that causes
the mess.
Is it the same resources and projects causing your issues or is it all over
the place?

Hi Robert

Thanks for the input. We're running the infrastrucure update on MOPS
(kb951297) but now you mention it I'm not sure that we're running the updates
on all clients. This may be where our problem lies. I haven't noticed any
pattern to the problem, different projects and different resources.

I'll check the client patches and see if this resolves the problem.

Hi Andy

I have observed similar problems. My environment is patched to Feb
update. It has very little data in it. The data displayed in Data
Analysis view was inconsistent with specific project plan. The total
work agreed but some of the work was shown against an "unassigned"
resource which in the plan was clearly allocated to a named resource.
The action I took was to make "changes" to the plan and republish,
eventually (after more than one iteration) I could get the reporting
database in sync. This problem is hard to spot. I have yet to figure
out how and when it happened.

regards

Mike
