Reporting on Archived Projects

vandermt

Hi,
We are implementing Project Server 2007. Once a project is complete we want
to
archive this project. My question is, How do we report/search archived
projects?
Thanks

Hi Vandermt,

There is no built in Archiving function, so you'll need to implement a
process and procedure for this, that also takes into account your reporting
requirements.

Ben, there is an archive process supported by MOPS. Granted, its very
manual, but it IS technically an archive process.

Vandermt, set up the Administrative Backup in PWA>Server Settings.
This copies projects, resources, custom fields, etc to the
ProjectServer_Archive database. Then, on a regular basis (weekly,
monthly, quarterly, whatever), go into Delete Enterprise Objects and
remove projects from the Draft and Published databases. Your copies
remain in, and can be restored from, the Archive db.

No, the OLAP cube is only built from the published database. You can of
course archive off your OLAP cubes, making sure that they are never replaced,
thereby giving you a snap shot at that point in time.
