Reporting Project Publish job failed (2007)

[Renee H]

I am receiving the below error on the queue when publishing a particular
project. I have narrowed it down to only happening after I have replaced a
local resource with an Enterprise Generic Resource using Build Team in
Project Pro. It does not happen every time. I think it may be when I
replace a local resource with one Generic and then it stays in the list
because of actual time. I then try to replace it again with a second Generic
Resource. Does any of this make sense? Help please.

Your ReportingProjectPublish job failed. Its current state is
FailedNotBlocking. It was 0% complete. It entered the queue at
07/19/2007 09:30:58.

To get more information about the job failure, please go to Project Web
Access. Select Personal Settings from the left menu. Then select My
Queued Jobs.

The errors returned from the queue are as follows:

You can do the following:
1. Try troubleshooting using the error IDs, error XML.
2. Contact administrator with your jobID

It's contrary to the system design to replace a local resource with actual
work, with a generic resource. How are you going about this? What steps are
you taking? I suspect that you might be using an incorrect procedure.

When attempting a replace, a message appears saying there is actual work and
that only future tasks will be changed. We select OK. Then, by mistake, we
think we did this again to the same local resource since it still showed up
in the pool, but this time tried to replace it with a different generic
resource. Same message same response. Now when we publish it fails at the
reporting stage and does not populate Data Analysis. We deleted the project
and restored a previous version to fix the problem. We had to replace
resources a bit at a time to keep it from failing. We just want to verify
what was causing the failure so that we can train users to avoid the action.
It was a messy cleanup. Has anyone else run into problems replacing
resources?

It sounds as though you corrupted the project plan by not using the tool
properly. To replace resources that have actual work on a task, you should
use the Resource Assignment dialog. To replace resources that have no work,
you can also use the Build Team from Enterprise dialog. To fix a corrupted
plan, you can try saving it to an mpp file and then import it back in. You
might consider obtaining the Ultimate Learning Guide and Managing Enterprise
