Repost Enter Key Behavior

I have a form the when opened is non-editable. I have a button that puts it
into edit mode by setting allowedits = true. When this happens, the enter
key does not function as set in the defaults (Tools->Options). The enter
key actually does nothing although the tab key works as expected. When I go
to edit the form and use the tab key to cycle through a number of controls,
eventually the enter key starts acting as expected. I am working on trying
to figure out if there is a specific control that needs to be focused on to
trigger the change. In the mean time, if anyone has any suggestions, I
would greatly appreciate it.
