Repost: Microsoft Office Document Imaging won't save file correctl

After upgrading from office XP to office 2003 users start complaining that
they can't save files after editing them. It looks like Office Document
Imaging saves the file but when they open the files again it looks the same
as the one they opened before editing. To put it another way, Document
Imaging didn't save the changes that were made. Users have modify rights on
the folders and files so that's not it.

When users save the file with another name all goes well. It looks like the
files are opened as read only but that can't be the case because it appears
to be saving the file. They would have gotten an error if this was the case.

Is there anyone that has seen this problem before and solved it?

Thanx in advance !!

Hi Wilbrand,

By 'editing' I'm asssuming you're referring to adding annotations in MS Office Document Imaging. Are they reopening the files in
Document Imaging or another app? If another app check in Document Imaging under Tools=>Options to be sure the 'make annotations
permanent' setting is being used.

Hi Bob,

It's not annotations that users add. They edit pages. Let's say users open a
TIF file. They delete a page in this file and then save it. After the save,
when they reopen document imaging, the document looks the same as before. In
other words, document imaging didn't save the changes that were made. Also,
when they try the "save as" option, document imaging crashes and displays a
dialog box with the option to restart the document imaging application.

It could be network related. When I copy the file, let's say, to c:\temp and
edit the TIF file, changes are saved. So, changes made locally are saved and
changes made on a network drive are not. I've checked the permissions users
have on the network folder and that looks ok. Also, the SYSTEM account has
full control so that cannot be it.
