Repost : showing a tasks in two different locations

i need a task to display in two different locations, but i don't want to
re-update again and again.
Example, 'purchased books' to appear under 'purchasing' and 'library
set-up', but one update will do both.

..

As Trevor has said, the purchasing of the books is a one-off task which
should therefore appear once.

What you can do is have milestones from that task appearing in different
locations. The title you give is "purchased books" which appears to be
a state you move into after having purchased them. I would create
milestone entries to record your state under the summary titles you give
and link them back to the actual purchase activity.
