I've been running into the following behavior:
Using a mouse with a scroll wheel, while editing documents longer than 10
pages, the display will "stutter".
Two or three lines will repeat down the pane.
It will then appear to allow me to select and modify text, but it turns out
that what is displayed is not the actual location.
If I notice this, and save the file, the display refreshes and all is fine.
But this has happened and I haven't noticed (selecting a large block of
text, for example) and I've lost chunks of documents.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?
Timothy
I posted this elsewhere on 5/2.
In the meantime I've worked my way through grad school finals.
The stutter got worse and seemed to be the precursor to Word quitting
unexpectedly.
Vista was kind enough to tell me and say that it would be looking for a
solution. No news in a month.
The problem seems exacerbated by large documents.
Per the suggestion of the help desk where I bought the laptop I took a
weekend (In the middle of Finals!) to remove and restore Word and run a
series of diagnostics.
Of course when I rebuilt my project and my 45 page paper (they were both
lost in the last Word 2007 crash) ... the problems promptly resurfaced.
*** I switched to Open Office to finish the projects so I could get my
grades. ****
