Reposting: Of Extremely Disapointed with MS

LiveWire

Since the full post has disapeared, I'm reposting including a responce to Bob1:

Hey Friends, I have to Vent!!!
I am so ticked-off with microsoft. After buying a new laptop a year ago
I relized that outlook express no longer had the spell checker. I have a
spell checker in works 8.5 and a dictionary, but neither are able to work
with outlook express. So I have to open works, create email their, spell
check it, then copy paste. Not horrificaly difficult, but come on, it was
avalible in prior versions of works/outlook express. Would need to buy Office
2007. I don't need an office suite for what I do. I do need a spell checker
though as I'm sure I'll have mispelled in this rant.
Then I UPGRADE to vista home premium only to find and fix many issues
with that alone. Find that many older programs don't work and the UAC is a
pain for someone performing adminstrative tasks. Yes, I've turned it Off.
Anyway, I went to send a fax and what you know, NO FAX Service with Home/Home
PREMIUM. And Microsoft has the nerve to label new OS's as New and Improved.
Thats BS!!! MS keeps removing the most usefull things so you buy the most
exprensive. Vista is a Downgrade with Eye Candy and a user data collection
database. Well, MS, you can keep your eye candy, I want the functionality
with the programs that the earier OS's included. Who's happy with a nice
looking screen that has nothing usefull anymore which once did. They give you
less funtionality with a pretty window, only now the window doesn't open
anything and when it does, it completely black on the other side. I've takeN
notice and am no longer a MS customer. I don't care how much trouble I have
with Linux OS, the next one will be that or Apple. I may not even wait, I
have a couple of empty hard drives to load a free copy of many linux choices
to start getting used to. And when I'm satisfied, I'll drop MS completely.
Why have I choosen to write this in the Office area, because since I
don't have an offce suite, I was going to get "Home and Student", but guess
what, it doesn't include a fax service program!!! Imagine that, an office
suite not having a fax service, Are you kidding me, I've had it!!! I cant
believe an Office Suite wouldn't have a fax service that was once included in
ALL versions of XP, and even ME.
You know evertime I read this or think about how all theese things were once
included in older OS's, I get so mad that MS has the nerve to advertise, New
and Improved, Updated, Upgraded, Faster, Better, more features, more secure.
Well folks something is either secure or not, theirs no inbetween. Have you
seen the list of fixes included with Vista SP1!!! I'm sick of them saying the
same dam thing with every new os when they know the're giving you less, so
one realy has to upgrade.

***No Spell Checker in OE without Office...
***No Fax service in Vista Home/Home PREMIUM...
***No Fax Service in Office...
***No Media Center in Vista Business, has fax service
***Whats left to cover all basis, Ultimate with that hefty price tag, and
they know it.
***My cunclusion to these issues...
*****NO LONGER A CUSTOMER!!!*****

Fight Back the Only way businesses take notice... Don't buy from them.
And they wonder why retail box versions of Vista is in the trash.
They lowered the price, the first time in history the current os price was
ever lowered! and still sales are stagnit.
Thanks for reading. Hope you understand whats happening with businesses
theese days, we're all paying more and getting less. They are realy sinking
as low as they legaly can go and sometimes more to satisfy not you the
customer, but themselves, their bosses, and the stock holders. When did
companies decide that a year with the same or less profit than the year
before is now considered a loss! New Programs are giving you the very basic
even though advertising a world of uses, what they are loaded with is links
to buy add-ons and upgrades, after one relizes it doesn't do anything until
you pay more and more. Keep it, I aint buying it nomore. The human brain and
its greed is driving people to new lows that I hope someday catch up to them,
but that may just be naive of me. Better to be one, than to be out,... no
thanks, I keep my dignity and integrity, and I dont need any outside
infuences to have morals. -Thanks again for reading, I feel alittle better.

Friends?!?! Outlook Express NEVER had a spellchecker and it was NEVER
part of office. You may aquire a suitable one from the web.

Thanking you in advance for your cooperation in resolving your issues.

Livewire responce to Bob1:

Why do you need to be so literal. I know that oe did not have the spell
checker as a part of its program, so what if I did, the fact is, oe no longer
checks spelling unless you have office or 3rd party app and it once did. All
you needed was works which came with every retail windows equiped pc. However
as I wrote "it was avalible in prior versions of works/outlook express".
Notice that works is written first. You left that out of the qoute. You knew
what I meant, dont insult my intelligence. I also didnt say oe was apart of
office, I said you need offfice for the spell checker to work in oe (current
version). Show me where
I wrote that oe was a part of office. What did you think about the real
issues I have pointed out? You know I'm right. OE had USE of the spell
checker in WORKS, but no longer. Vista Home/Home Premium has no fax service
when xp home did. Vista business has fax service, but no media center.
Ultimate has both media and fax. Vista sales suck. They extended the service
life of xp. Businesses and government are avoiding vista at all costs. Why
would anybody want to give up functionality for headaches. Vista is unstable,
unreliable, and is a resource hog that slows the fastest of machines. Return
to xp and its like a rocket. Your still a friend though, Thanks Boob1, Im
sorry, I'll correct that spelling myself, Bob1. I do appreciate the info on
obtaining a 3rd party substitue. I shouldn't have to go and get a program I
know nothing about with god only knows what troubles come with it, that used
to be included or a part of, but lost when I choose to Update/Upgrade.
The impression that I get from your responce is that you see yourself as a
"know it all" waiting to pounce on people at the first chance you get who
say anything bad about ms. Do you work for them?
Not very helpful, Friends!?!?!
I'll take it as compliment that I got to you enough to have you respond with
that weak as* nit-picking, when you knew what I meant and chose not to
respond to the guts of what I said.

firstly, o.e. does come with
a spell checker. if yours did
not then there were ways to
get it back.

secondly, your machine was
likely not compatible with
vista. therefore your
machine like your attitude
became dysfunctional.

lastly, the word "evertime"
was utilized in your declaration
of independence from microsoft.

might it be that you still
don't know how to use the
spell checker?

good luck with your quest
to find a computer system
that works for you perfectly.

but keep in mind that maybe
your brand new computer
was not functioning optimally
from the beginning.

it happens all the time. that
is why you need to save
the receipt/invoice and use
the warranty to return it or
replace it.

if however, your computer
was working perfectly when
you got it, then it would be
safe to say that you screwed
and perhaps even allowed it
to get infected.

OE does not come with a spellchecker. It pulls the one from office (word)
or an installed 3rd party one.
