Hello,
I am having a quite annoying problem with the INCLUDETEXT field, and I
cannot seem to find a solution for it in the documentation I have read
on the Web and previous postings. I would surely appreciate some
help.
Document A contains several figures, which I numbered sequentially
using the SEQ field. I then proceeded to bookmark each figure number,
so I can cross-reference within document A. It works without
problems.
In document B, I want to add a cross-reference to a figure in document
A. Document B itself contains its own set of figures, which have also
been numbered using a SEQ field.
I am using the INCLUDETEXT field in document B to refer to the figure
bookmarks in document A. When I do this, the figure number shows up
all right, but it messes up the figure numbering in document B. For
example: document B has two figures, numbered 1 and 2. When I insert
an INCLUDETEXT cross-reference to a figure in document A in between
figures 1 and 2 of document B, the figure numbering sequence of
document B is altered: the second figure now becomes figure 3.
Upon close inspection, I noticed the INCLUDETEXT actually transformed
automatically into a SEQ field. This makes me believe the INCLUDETEXT
is not bringing the bookmark text (which is the figure number) but the
bookmark content (which is a SEQ field).
Using the \! modifier in INCLUDETEXT did not help. I also tried some
\c modifiers in hopes the INCLUDETEXT field would not bring in the SEQ
field, but this did not work either.
The only solution I can see at the moment is to name each SEQ
differently –for example, the figures in document A would be SEQ
FigureA while the figures in document B would be SEQ FigureB.
However, I would rather avoid doing this if there is an easier
solution.
I would be much obliged for any help or suggestions.
Best regards,
Juan.
