REQ: Note flags improvement

Does anyone else wish you could apply a note flag to a segment of text, not
necessarily a block? For example, the "remember for later" note flag should
act like a highlighter, letting you tag a segment of text rather than the
whole paragraph it's located in. I think that'd be a welcome addition.

Do you just mean "I need a highlighter"? Highlighters
are available among the pen choices.

Or do you just mean "flag something smaller than a
paragraph for later followup"? I agree; having that
choice would be nice. I'd also like to flag something
larger than a paragraph as a single entity.

For example: When I took notes on paper, I would indent a
line with the followup action. When I reviewed my notes
later, I knew that the paragraph immediately preceding
had the topic about which I was supposed to follow up.

If I do that in OneNote, I get a bunch of "useless" note
flags that say simply "Follow up with Steve", "Follow up
with Barb" and no context. I've adjusted my workflow to
have separate flags for each person I have regular
meetings with (so that Steve and Barb get their own
flags) but sometimes the ability to flag multiple
paragraphs as a single item would be useful.

That's also a good idea as well. Basically, flexibility is the key. Whatever
you highlight is what you flagged. In the case of flags with icons, rather
than actual highlighting, maybe it would still appear to the left of the
paragraph (but corresponding to the line the flagged text starts on, and
lightly shades the flagged text when you hover your pen over the flag.

Good suggestion. It's got my vote. Although my votes are probably
considered to be hanging chads.
