we are concerned with how best to assist you, the customer.
Many customers like having material delivered as a tutorial.
This is a request for some feedback on preferred delivery format for
tutorials.
For accessing, viewing, etc. a tutorial...

Do you prefer PowerPoint slide shows ?
Do you prefer PDF's?
Do you prefer .mht's?
Do you prefer web page content?

thanx for the feedback.

I assume this scenario: Someone comes to your website looking for help
and clicks on a link that appears to have an answer/tutorial.

My clear choice is for that link to open to another web page - NOT a PDF
and NOT a PPT slide show - just a plain simple html web page.

That is my favorite too, no PDF, no PowerPoint or .doc. Google has changed PDF's into
HTML for awhile now. Many times when you do open the PDF from a search engine, it
will redirect and then you are stuck. One has to manually "go to" to get back. Print
friendly pages would be good.

I definitely prefer web page content for
support/tutorial information.

thanx for the feedback.
Years ago I had to support a Screen Reader Application for blind people.
Whoever wrote the manual thought that it would only be used once from
front to back by the actual user.(Oh it came on tape for the blind
person to listen to as well as paper.)
That made it very hard for the support person, as you had to wade thru
it till you found the answer to the question.
Even an Index would have been nice.
So I think tutorials and Powerpoints are out.

As much as I like .pdf files, web content is probably best. I can turn any
webpage into a .pdf on my own.

I like PDFs because they can be read off-line and printed very
conveniently. But more powerful and 'intelligent' searching capabilities
can be provided by a website, so ideally having PDFs for reference,
backed up by a well designed website for troubleshooting & tips, could
give 'the best of both worlds'.

I wouldn't have much interest in PowerPoint presentations, and I don't
even know what a .mht is.

Nobody around here dares even mention the acronym PPT as they know I
will not attend the function and the charity will probably go hungry.
I would *SCREAM* if I saw another garish garbage PPT presentation.

Anyone can make bad PPT presentations, just as they can make bad MS
Publisher files or bad Word documents, or bad speeches or bad acetate
slide-shows.
Don't blame bad design on the application.
