Request for updaters for Office 98 - any mirrors or copies?

Hi,

I understand that very old products are no longer supported, and I don't expect anyone developing new stuff for ancient versions of Office, but it's a shame that files that already exist somewhere are no longer available - Apple themselves, for all their faults, still have updates available for products far older than Office 98. I am trying to get hold of the combined updater and subsequent updates for Office 98 for Mac. I was hoping these may still be held somewhere internally to MS, or that some other user may have local copies - I've hunted and hunted online. There are still KB articles but the download links are broken, and I can't find any mirrors.

Office 98 is still very useful to me, on a particular machine. I also have machines with 2003, 2007, and 2008 (Mac).

any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S. upgrading to 2001 is not an option - I use a citation manager that does not support 2001. Any later version is also not ideal, because that citation manager is a Classic product.

updaters for Office 98 are also included.

I'm afraid you're not only dealing with an EOL software package, but also
one designed for a deprecated operating system :-( You may have some success
if you get in contact with an Apple Users Group. They may have archives or
perhaps can point you in the right direction.

Thanks to all who have replied (and anyone who is yet to reply!). I now have the SSL Security Updater, and found a Word Count Selection macro from the <http://tinyurl.com/lxuwt5> link that I'd missed before, which is wonderful. I also got the Updated Metafile Filter, which is handy. I'm still after the combined updater, which is the most important one - there was a fairly serious problem with Office pulling data from deleted files occupying the same disk space as empty bits of office files. This is the only one that really concerns me, since the machines in question are not online.

Thanks also for the list of updates I need, which is particularly useful since I can't get at hpcfactor.com myself for some reason. I will try user groups.

I live in hope that someone may still see this post and have some of these files.

SORTED (I think!)

Thanks again for the list - between that and web.archive.org 's WayBack Machine I was able to find some of the downloads, and identify the original filenames for the rest and find them on ageing ftp mirrors, so in theory I have all of them. I had to download lots as .bin as the hqx versions weren't to be found anywhere, so I'll test them when the machine arrives. Assuming they all work I'll try to put them up somewhere for anyone else that happens to come along in my position.
