"Requesting Virus Scan" when opening Word docs?

please help if you can. Whenever I open my word docs, I get
the message "Requesting Virus Scan", and McAfee and Norton
show NO viruses on my machine. Downloaded the latest
service packs for Windows XP, hoping that would help, but
it didn't. Any ideas? Thanks. Ellen

Hi Ellen,

The notification you are seeing means your virus scanner is scanning
the document you are opening for viruses - they are simply 'doing
their job'. It doesn't mean you have actually encountered a virus. If
the document *did* contain a virus then your virus scanner would
notify you.

Now if you are using the "Office Plug-in" option in Norton then this
causes more problems than it is worth. Go to Norton Options and in the
Miscellaneous section disable the "Office Plug-in" option.
