requesting virus scan

hi...anyone to help me?

when i open word it has so much slowed down
displaying 'requesting virus scan' at the bottom of the
page. How can I turn this feature off? I have AVG anti
virus software but cannot detect any pluging to turn off.

Any ideas?

I had the latest Norton Internet Security and my computer slowed down to a
crawl! I finally took it off and I am relying on my ISP to remove viruses
before I get them. Perhaps you are having the same problem. I am probably
asking for trouble.

Open the AVG "Control Center" and click the "AVG Resident Shield"
It will present you with options to turn off various items (see the help).

When you turn an item off you'll be treated to dire warnings about the shield not being
fully functional as well as a nag box (balloon) on the task bar when you boot.

McAfee does the same thing to me. I've had to disable most of it to get the
computer to run.

AVG, NAV and McAfee all have options to turn off the email scanning or
opening documents. However, my ISP scans emails but McAfee has still blocked
a couple of attachments - so don't reply on your ISP.

If you get the latest version of McAfee, it should resolve any issue with
slowing down emails or slowing opening documents.
