Still having issues.
1. the fire wall rules for Norton Internet Security
2. Norton Internet Security may have updated, I am not sure exactly when
Research quit working. I did download a very recent security patch for Word
as well.
3. Other computer on network without Norton Internet Security seems to work.
4. Research task pane. The built in thesaurus works but none of the online
stuff. Note that regular online help DOES work.
5. No, none of the online functions of Resarch Task Pane work.
Your help is sincerely appreciated. Blessings to you.

Wendall,
Are you still having issues with the online dictionary, or was this a
temporary network issue?
If you are still experiencing a problem, here a few additional quesitons to
assist us in identifying if this is machine specific.
1) Please explain what you meant by "reinstalled firewall rules for Word
2003"
2) What changed from the time it worked to now (installed other
applications, virus protection updates, service pack updates, etc)
3) Are there other computers on your network that can access the online
dictionary?
4) When you mentioned research function, were you referring to the Research
Task Pane on the right side of your screen (also accessible via View \ Task
Pane)? If so, do any of the items in the Research task pane work?
5) Can you browse to any of the Online Research links the Research Task Pane
refers to? For instance:

I am trying to use the online dictionary etc through the research function.
I keep getting a message that the service did not respond. I am on a
network. I have disabled my firewall (NIS) and reinstalled firewall rules
for Word 2003. I used to have this function and now can't get it to work.
Any ideas?
