Resent E-Mail Message Doesn't Trigger Sound Alert

Puget Sound Pete

I've just upgraded to Outlook 2007, and I want to have it play a sound when I
have incoming mail. I'm still on Windows XP, and I'm using Comcast as my POP
e-mail server.

I was able to change the seetings in XP's Control Panel for Sounds to have
the desired sound (a WAV File) play when I get new e-mail. However, no
matter how many times I've tried, a resent e-mail will never trigger the
sound. I used a GroupWise Web client to sent the initial e-mail as well as
the resent e-mail.

I had Outlook 2007 running while I resent the e-mail, so then I closed
Outlook 97 while I resent the e-mail, and then started it up, but no sound
came out after a send/receive request. I then deleted the e-mail in Oulook
before closing it down, resending the e-mail again, started up Outlook and
initiated the send/receive request - no luck here either. But if the mail is
a new e-mail, then it gets the sound every time. Is there some flag on
resends that Outlook interprets as an old e-mail message? I may be in a
situation where I might miss a message the first time and then a resend, and
I won't know about it.
