Reset chart size in Word

When I insert a Microsoft Chart in the latest version of Word a small (2 by
3 inch) chart is placed on the page. The default attributes of the chart
(e.g., font sizes) are kept constant when the chart is re-sized, so a font
size 8 character becomes bigger, rather than remaining in its original scale.
Re-sizing the chart simply blows up its appearance. It does not provide
greater charting space.

The initial chart is too small. I would like to have an initial chart that
is bigger in size and when expanded and contracted keeps the font size
constant in appearance.

Is there some way to re-set the default chart size in Word to, say 4 by 6
inches, and to keep font size appearance constant when the chart object is
re-sized?

Many thanks for any ideas.

I don't think there's a way to change the initial chart size, but you
can prevent the font from growing.

Point the cursor at a place just inside the outermost border, so the
tooltip says Chart Area, and right-click there. Select the Format
Chart Area item. In the dialog, click the Font tab. Uncheck the box at
the lower left that says "Auto scale", and choose the font size you
want.
