Reset the Normal Style to It's Default

Back when I was learning the basics of Word 2010, I customized the
default Normal style. Now that I have a (somewhat) better understanding
of how things work, I would like to reset the Normal style to the
default Word 2010 Normal style.

I haven't yet found a complete description of the default Normal style.
I think I remember this much:

Calibi, 11, Left Aligned, 1.15 Line Spacing, 0 pt Before, 10 pt After

but I may be wrong and there are probably other characteristics I'm
missing. Is there any place I can go to get a complete definition of the
Normal Style in W2010?

I think...I hope...I found a solution.

Fortunately, I customized the Normal style in a style set /other than/
the Word 2010 style set. When I looked at the Normal style in the Word
2010 style set, it was described exactly as I remembered. So that's what
I used.

A take-away lesson here might be: Do /not/ change anything in the Word
2010 style set. You may to consult its style definitions later.

I generally make it a point not to make any changes that will be stored in
the Normal template (Normal.dot or Normal.dotm) except toolbar/Ribbon/QAT
customizations and other environmental things (keyboard shortcuts, for
example). I leave Normal "clean" and create document templates for my other
customizations and experiments.

Reading this kind of problem, I'm so pleased I have stuck with my well-tried
Word 2000. However, I am starting to get more work in the .docx format and
it's a nuisance asking for it to be redone. Obviously Micro$oft introduced
that incompatibility deliberately! Another reason not to downgrade to the
later versions!

Actually, Microsoft gave in to industry pressure when it introduced the
XML document formats, including .docx. Previously, in order to use data
from a Word document in a third party application, the developers had to
pay a license fee to Microsoft. However, in the XML formats, the data is
stored separately from the formatting, making it more easily accessible.

As for my original question of how to regain the original formatting of
the Normal style, that would present the same problem in Word 2000.

In addition, Word 2010 can save documents in Open Document Format
(.odt), giving it an additional degree of compatibility that is not
possible with older versions of Word.

Thanks for the heads-up!
