Resetting change in appointment series

I created a recurring appointment and sent an invitation to a second
attendee. I then changed one of the appointments so it wouldn't clash with
another appointment in their calendar but it turns out this isn't required
and I want to reset the changed appointment so it remains part of the
recurring series. I couldn't find any way of doing this and had to set up a
single appointment. Do you know of another way?

Change something in the series, such as changing the recurrence, clicking OK,
then changing it back again, then saving and closing and it should regenerate
the series, putting the one recurrence back to its original place.

As I said, since you don't Save and Close until the second change, there
should be only one request from Outlook to update members. Even if there is a
request to update, howvever, simply don't allow the update.

I tested resetting the recurrence and it worked to get the appointments in
line but I have another question re: appointments with invitations attached.
If I want to change the notes for my own personal reference, how do I get it
to not send an update?

in Outlook 2003 but Outlook 2007 won't let me not send an update. The only
options I am given are "Save changes and send update" or "Don't save but keep
the meeting open" (which keeps it in a loop with final choices either being
to send an update or not to save). Please help as this is infuriatingly
frustrating!

I'm not at my OL 2007 system right now. I'll try to test this when I am.

there is a bug that is fixed in sp2 - see
http://outlook-tips.net/archives/2008/20080827.htm for a workaround if you
can't install sp2.
