resetting new doc. defaults

My three year old son has been into word and somehow reset the startu
new document to a different format and also added some Z's and X's i
purple font with green highlight.
how do I reset the default to the original normal view, blank doc.?
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling word but it came back wit
the same format ARGHHHH!
