resize object and text together

In powerpoint, the font size and object size are controlled independently. This becomes a pain when you want to resize a figure containing both texts and objects, because the texts and objects are no longer in proportion and become misaligned after resizing. Is there a way out of this?

Thanks,

Hi,

The text that is within an autoshape does not grow or shrink with the size
of the shape. Neither does a regular text box.

But if you use WordArt (available from the Drawing toolbar via View >
Toolbars > Drawing) and position the WordArt on top of the autoshape you can
then drag a selection box that selects both the WordArt text and the shape.
Right Click and then choose to Group. Then you can change the size of the
group and the text will grow and shrink proportionately.

Hi Jim,
Thanks a lot. I ran into another problem using Wordart. Specifically, if I
typed in text of different length in Wordart, the shape and distance between
individual letters were automatically adjusted to conform to the preselected
shape. Is there a way to prevent this, so that the text length will not
affect the letter shape, as in the case of regular text box?

BTW, why is it impossible to resize objects together with regular texts in
Powerpoint? You can do this with other drawing softwares. As scientists, we
love Powerpoint because you can present the data easily, but we would like to
use the same data for publication, and this invariably requires resizing the
figures containing both images and texts.

Hi Matt,
Thanks. I am a bit confused. Is "text transforms" same as wordart? How can I
find this command?

Regarding the solution you suggested, I am not clear either. Do you mean
that I have to type in the text WITHIN the autoshape to enable the resizing?
What if the text is outside an object (say a photo)?
