resizing a group of objects

Hi,
I am making a floor plan diagram. What I want to do is resize the whole
group and the message I get is something about layer protection or shape
protection? What I get is a distorted diagram - some walls are where they
shouldn't be and some are. Any suggestions?? Thanks
