Resizing a package

I am using the UML template in Visio 2003. When I add a package to a Static
Structure diagram, I want to resize the package based on classes that I want
to add to fit inside it, not the amount of text in the package name. How do I
turn off text-based resizing.
also, how do I turn on the vertical resize handles? Only the horizontal
handles work for resizing.

Hi Alane,

UML shapes has restrictions towards resizing.
Thats's the way Visio has build them.
In order to enable resizing you need to ungroup the shape
the you need to drill down the shapes and remove the protections set to
shape
enabling resizing behaviour
after that you need to regroup the shape but afcourse it will no longer has
the UML functionality

what you can try is open the drawing explorer (view/drawing explorer)
in the foreground pages you locate you package and expand it
it should contain 3 shape, the packges, name and sheet.X
in all of the shapes removed the word GUARD where it appears in the formula
after that in the shape Package(sheet.1) set the userlockedit to '0'
after this you can resize the text horizontally and diagonally.
if you want more resizing possibilities you have to create the shapes from
scratch
in this scenario you haven't ungroup the shapes

Maybe this helps
I don't see however how adding classes to the package alters the package
name

Thank you for your helpful hints. However, the word GUARD does not appear in
any of the formulas on the shape sheet for that shape or any of its
components. Should I be looking somewhere else?
