Resizing centred text

I have centred text in a text box on a slide. When I change the point size, it resizes from the top left hand corner of the text box, so things that are perfectly aligned are no longer aligned after resize. This didn't happen in the last version of powerpoint. I've tried different alignments of text for the box itself and nothing seems to work. In other software like InDesign you can specify which part of the box it moves from. Is there something like this for this new version of powerpoint that I can't find?

It's been in PPT since roughly forever. <g>

Go to the formatting dialog for the shape that contains the text, click
the Text Box tab and change the Text Anchor.

Steve might be referring to the "Text Layout" section
of the Text Box tab in the Format Shape dialog.
You can specify vertical alignment there.
Even better, use the "Alignment and Spacing" section
of the Formatting palette.
The text will expand in size from that "anchor" point.

Keep in mind that there are actually TWO alignment
commands: one for the text inside the box,
and one for the actual shape (box) that houses the
text. On the Formatting palette, the "Alignment
and Spacing" section controls the "anchor" or the
location of the text itself inside the box...
whereas on the "Size, Rotation and Ordering" box,
you can use the "Align" feature to actually align the
text box shape as a whole, in relation to other objects.

Hope this clears things up for you.
