Resizing photos - snap to grid - Word 97

I have a table where one of the cells contains a photo. I can't see a
way to resize it to a precise dimension. If I drag one of the corners,
there is a snap-to-grid effect. If I right-click on the photo, there is
no option that allows me to enter a precise dimension. I've gone to
Tools/Customize and Tool/Options, looking for a way to turn off the
snap-to-grid effect. Can't find any.

Also, the first time I change the contrast or brightness of the photo by
using the Picture Toolbar, the picture size increases slightly, Repeated
clicks on contrast or brightness don't change the size.

Thanks for your help in solving these two problems.

I created a table in Word 2003 and inserted a photo of my cat in the
first cell. Of course it was too large so I double clicked on it and
brought up the format picture dialog and clicked on the size tab and
moved the size down to 3%. It worked just fine for me. I hope this
proves helpful for you.

Carol,

After clicking on the picture, I examined the Picture Toolbar that
popped up and found that it has a Format Picture icon on it, which
allows ssetting exact dimensions. I couldn't get the Format Picture
option by right-clicking on the picture or from the Format menu.

Thanks for solving my problem.
