Resizing pictures

Has anyone resized a picture using Office Tools Picture
Manager? For example, the original picture was 1600 x
1200 dimension and resized it to a smaller image in order
to send a smaller file via the Internet. The changes to
the picture was saved. Now I want to return it to its
original size. Unfortunately, when I do resize back to
1600 x 1200, the quality of the picture is very poor.
Anyone know how to correct this?

I don't think you can correct this now. When you resized using an editor,
the original image is resized. What you are now doing in trying to enlarge
it, is stretch the pixel structure which always results in very poor
definition.

When you resize an image for mailing - compressing - you need to use the
editor's compressing facility and save in .jpg or .gif or other compressible
format. Changing its overall dimensions is not the way to do it.

Good luck,

Ed

Save the original.
You can make the file size smaller and retain all the detail.

Originally you had a picture made up of 1600 x 1200 = 1,920,000 pixels. If
you resized it to (say) 400 x 300 for mailing, you've now only got 120,000
pixels in the picture, or one-sixteenth of the information you had
originally. That's why the quality is so poor if you try to enlarge it
again.

You should use "Save As" after resizing to enable you to choose a different
file name, or alternatively make a copy of the original file before
resizing.
