Ok, so I was mucking around with the SharePoint permissions in "Site
Settings" for the "Project Managers" group (NOT PWA but SharePoint). The
reason why I was messing with permissions was because in one of my recent
training classes the users were modifying the PWA homepage, so I took away
two permissions under "TopSite" >Site Settings > Permissions > Permission
Levels
*Use Remote Interfaces - Use SOAP, Web DAV, or SharePoint Designer
interfaces to access the Web site.
*Use Client Integration Features - Use features which launch client
applications. Without this permission, users will have to work on documents
locally and upload their changes.
My thoughts were to remove those permissions from the main site and create a
template allowing those permissions for the basesite on their workspaces.
Anywho - after I unchecked those boxes the users started to see the
following error message when the users tried to enter the Microsoft Project
Client (they could access PWA just fine):
"Could not access Enterprise Global
Possible reasons:
*You do not have sufficient permissions to access the Enterprise Global
*There is a problem with the Enterprise Global in the database.
If the problem persists, contact your admin
When I check the boxes again, viola!...the issue went away. Did not know
those permissions were linked directly to the Project client. Go figure. I
am sure someone on here will know exactly why that happened and make me feel
like a dummy but for the moment I am happy about my finding !
LOL...Disclaimer: this does not resolve all errors with this message. I am
sure there are 50 million other solutions!
