Resouce allocation issue

This is basically a training and performance issue, since you cannot force
the system to allow only 50% Units for each team leader for the resource in
question. One thing the TL's can do, however, is to change the Max Units
value for the resource in the Resource Sheet view of a project. This change
will be temporary, and will last only while the project is currently open.
This change will allow the TL to assign the resource to tasks without
entering a Units value and then the system will then automatically enter 50%
Units because that is the Max. Units value. Just a thought. Hope this
helps.

Is the first TL overallocating the resource? If so, then he/she needs to
resolve those overallocations before the other TL assigns the resource. If
there are no overallocations, then the resource should assigned at only 50%
Units in the project, which means the resource is available for the second
TL's project. Out of curiosity, where is the second TL looking to see the
maximum assignment? Let us know.

Hello,

I have the following problem:
I have two Team Leaders with one shared resource.
For each TL the resource is available at 50%. But, the resource is available
at 100% in the enterprise resource pool.
If one TL assigns the resource and use the leveling option, before the
second TL assigns the same resource, MS-Project will
solve the problem by using the resource at 100% for the first TL.

Is it possible to assign the same resource for 2 projects at 50% for each
project simultaneously ?

Thanks

Hello Dale,

Thanks. This is exactly what I tried to do but...
For the first TL it works just fine. The problem is with the second TL.
If he is also changing the max units locally for the resouce. he sees that
the resource has maximum assignment (because of the first TL).

Any idea ?
