Resouce Scheduling

Can someone please explain to me the relationship between
the "Max Units" field shown on the resource sheet and
the "Units" field shown on the Task Form?

I am attempting to use a create a shared resource pool
where only X% of a resources time is available for project
work (The rest being for support, maintenance etc.)

..eg. Jack is normally available 50% of his time to
projects and this is noted in the Resource Sheet Max
Units. What should (or can) appear on the Units field of a
specific project task?

Hello Steve,

As you guessed, the Max Unit is the maxi number of resources available on
the project.

So the Max Unit for Jack would be 50% or 0,5.

If you have a resource 'Brick layers' with 10 brick layers, the max units'll
be 1000% or 10.

The Units field in the Task Form is the number of resource effectively
assigned on the specific task : may be 3 if you assigned 3 brick layers. Or
0,25 if Jack is working only 2 hours a day on a task (for a 8hrs day)

The number of Units assigned on a tasks must be less than the Max unit of
the resource. Otherwise you create some over allocation.

Hope this helps,

Thank You Gerard. Is there a way that I can globally
change the units fields in all tasks? i.e Right now they
are set greater than on the resource sheet.
