Resouces and their assigments missing from schedule

Hi hope someone has an answer for this issue.

We are on SP2/Aug09 CU.

We have plans that after a save and publish the resouces and their
assignments disappear from the schedule. These are mature schedules.
On some of them it has been up to half the resources.

One of the processes we use is to save a copy locally before we save
and publish; can this cause the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bruce:

When you use Save As, and save a local copy, at the moment the plan saves
you are now working on the local copy and not on the server. I would
discourage this practice as it is very risky. After saving the local copy,
you must immediately save the project to the server to restore your
connection to it. Forgetting to do that could cause data loss among other
problems. However, I can't be certain that this is the cause of your
problem. There are other possibilities, but you haven't provided enough
information to take a stab like explaining exactly what you mean by
"assignments disappear from the schedule."
