Resource assignments on all projects views

I need to identify projects that do not have a non-generic resource assigned
to them. I haven't found a view that I can build that will show all
projects. Even the assignment view only lets me show 100 resources at a
time. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this?

Thanks,

Walter

If I interpret your question correctly, you want to determine which projects
contain only Generic resources and do not contain any human (non-Generic)
resources. Am I reading you correctly? If so, then you can get a rough
idea of which projects meet your criteria by creating a custom Porfolio
Analyzer view for this purpose by completing the following steps:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permssions
2. Click Admin - Mange Views
3. Click the Add View button
4. Select the "Portfolio Analyzer" option
5. Give the view a name, such as "Generic Resource Projects Only" or
something like that
6. In the Portfolio Analyzer Mode section, select the "PivotTable only"
option
7. Add the following dimensions to the drop areas of the PivotTable:

Filter Fields = Resource Status dimension
Row Fields = Projects and Resources (Projects must be on the left side of
Resources)
Column Fields = Time (optional)
Total Fields = Work (optional)

8. Click the Resource Status dimension pick list and select only the
"Enterprise Generic Active" option and then click the OK button
9. Add this new View to at least one Category
10. Click the Save Changes button

This View should now show you every project that contains at least one
Generic resource. Unfortunately, its chief limitation is that you cannot
restrict it show projects that contain ONLY Generic resources. If a project
contains only Generic resources, you will see it in the PivotTable; it a
project contains a mix of both Generic resources and human resources, it
will also show up in the PivotTable. If a project contains only human
resources, it will NOT show up in the PivotTable. Although this does not
meet your reporting needs 100%, I think it gets your started in the right
direction. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Sorry to be confusing on this one. I want to show all projects that DO NOT
have a non-generic resource (aka in our lingo as a "named resource" on them.
The only way I know to do this is external to Project Server. Any other
ideas?

I think you best option is to use something like Crystal Reports of SQL
Reporting Services. Hope this helps.

Dale,

If only they'd let me have the tool! I think the best I'll be able to do
in the short run is to export to Access via Excel and make my own reports
there. It works but is clumsy. I can make macros to automate much of it
and document it for others.

As always, thanks for the help!
